Ray J. Smolinski

Ray J. Smolinski, 96, was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Zombek); loving father of Katherine (late Edmund, Jr.) Krugler and Raymond Jr.; dear grandfather of Kathy (Brian) and Frank (Gretchen);cherished great-grandfather of Cheryl, Frank Jr., Kaitlin, Kevin Jr., Nick, and Alex. He was the son of the late Frank Sr. and late Julia, preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

Ray was a lifetime resident and "2nd Mayor" of Bridgeport, and a die hard Cubs fan. He was the lottery king of the world and loved fishing with his late son-in-law, Ed. Everyone who knew Ray also knew his great sense of humor. He left a lasting impression on the staff and residents of The Grove and will be fondly remembered by all.

Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2024 from 3 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9 to 10:00 am at Walter Pomierski & Son Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd Street, Chicago, IL 60608. A 10:30 am mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish St. Barbara worship site, 2859 South Throop Street, Chicago, IL. (773)927-6424
