Leona Harkink

Leona (Lillian) Harkink, nee Biernacki, born January 11, 1926 in Bridgeport, IL passed away on May 4, 2021 at the age of 95 at Lakeshore Rehab and Healthcare of Joliet, IL. Wonderful wife to the late Robert Harkink; sweetest  and loving mother of Carol (Peter) Marks of Plainfield, IL who were at her bedside at passing. She was the proud grandmother of Laura (Marks) Christensen  and Michael (Araceli) Marks who she loved and adored. Great-Grandmother  to Mike, Kenny, Matthew and Allison who she loved dearly and were her whole world. Preceded in death by her dearest brothers and late sister-in laws Charles (Marian) Biernacki, Edward (Adeline) Biernacki, and Walter (Patricia) Biernacki. Loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews and the late Mark (Lori) Biernacki.

Her infectious smile, positive love for life, and sense of humor reached out to her family and lifelong friends in all that knew and met her. She will forever be missed.

The family thanks the staff and workers of hospice and Lakeshore Rehab and Healthcare for their love and care to Leona through the years. She truly loved you all.

Funeral Friday May 14 9:00 am from the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral home to St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 8000 Linder Ave. Burbank, IL 60459, Mass at 10:30 am followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
